Sensei Akemi is a very helpful teacher that puts an emphasis on correct pronunciation! She recommends specific books based on your goals and level of learning Japanese, and guides you along the way. She is a spectacular teacher that I would recommend to anyone looking to learn!

Akemi-sensei is extremely knowledgeable! She's very particular when helping with pronunciations, so I'm grateful for all the tiny corrections that I'd never catch myself. She's been a wonderful guide throughout all the grammar, vocab, and spoken aspects of the language learning process.

We found Akemi- Sensei on Facebook. We loved how open and thorough she is! She is prompt (ALWAYS on time), understanding, patient , affordable and flexible! She breaks down each lesson (gives you the history / cultural significance behind your lessons, which is stellar) , gives you most of the material you need and points you where you need to go to buy the rest (she also provides tapped content to reinforce the prior lesson). Akemi- Sensei goes above and beyond to make sure you understand and enjoy your lessons! (she eve gave us tips on how to teach our child - even better to reinforce our own learning!) We made a good investment when we chose Akemi- Sensei.

Akemi responded immediately to our request and was very helpful in setting up our lesson times . After our time was fixed , we had to change it again due to some issues . Again , Akemi was very accommodating. She always gives me a brief summary of how my child is progressing with the lessons . My child has demonstrated good improvement in her Japanese language skills . We are impressed with Akemi’s tutoring .

I’ve been taking lessons with Akemi sensei for 4 months now and have learned a lot. I can understand some parts of the shows I watch, read hiragana, have short conversations and structure some sentences! Time flies with sensei because she’s a wonderful, kind, beautiful, knowledgeable person and teacher! She truly believes in you and you learn a lot of great material in just one hour. Aside from Japanese, I’ve seen myself grow as a student in general. I have developed more constant and better studying methods because at first I wasn’t such a good student with studying the material.

Akemi was Japanese tutor as I prepared for the Monbukagakusho scholarship exams. I had tried other tutors but Akemi had by far the most structured and professional approach to teaching me the language. She is from Nikko, which is just north of Tokyo, so for those worried if she will have a non-standard dialect, rest assured that this is not the case. I would definitely recommend her services for anyone looking learn Japanese from scratch or bring themselves to a more advanced level.
