About the lesson
My expertise is working with high school students who struggle with reading and writing. If you are a student who needs help choosing a book to read or comprehending what you're reading, I'd love to read alongside you, and we'll figure it out together. Do you know what your strengths are as a writer? Let's start with your strengths and work on the parts you struggle with, one skill at a time. Once we know "where you glow," together we will figure out where you need to "grow." As a teacher with over 18 years of experience, I understand there is no single "right way" to teach and to learn. Each student is different, so my approach to helping will depend on your needs. I will question you, push you, and lead you to many paths of success. (Oh, I've been told I'm quite funny and ever-so memorable, too!)

About Cassie
Today I hold a Master's Degree in English and Education. My students and I have published 2 books of personal narratives. We've prepared for and performed community-wide Spoken Word Poetry events. We've spent countless Friday nights sharing our writing in coffee shops and watching plays that we studied together in class. We've learned to take risks together. Creativity is encouraged becaused life is more than a fill-in-the-blanks worksheet or an A-B-C-D Bubble Test. I read over 100 books every year--I read just about everything from picture books to textbooks. If you are genuinely looking for help, bring your homework, your questions, and your concerns to me, and we'll figure it out together. I have been called an "Edutainer," but don't let that fool you because I've been honored with distict, state, and national awards for my teaching. I believe learning can be fun, and I have a big personality. Let's do this!

Mrs. Cox is by far the best Highschool teacher I have had the pleasure of learning from. When I was in my senior year I had her the whole year and I struggled with my language and Grammer skills and she was always more than willing to help and give me advice. She was the single most supportive teacher to me and all the students that she made feel like they mattered. Mrs. Cox always encouraged us to not give up, and to go above and beyond. She was a stern but fair teacher, and she always made the day better with her honest up beat spirit.
She is the most kind hearted dedicated teacher when it comes to teaching.
She'll do whatever is needed to make her students feel involved and comfortable in her class.
I've never had a netter teacher then her and wouldn't change it for the world.Cassie was my daughter's English teacher in 10th and 11th grade. She further instilled the love of reading and writing in my daughter. She does this with everyone she meets, even with the kids in her neighborhood. She also builds confidence in her students by finding a connection with them and building a relationship through that connection. I know this because her students that are now adults rally around her. They donate time, money and items to her classroom. She is constantly finding new ways to teach the same lesson and her past students want to help her the way that she helped them. You will not find a teacher more passionate, genuine, kind, fair and loving than Cassie Cox.
I have known Cassie for over a decade and her ability to make academic contact come to life is unmatched. The quality of a great teacher is one who spends time to connect with their students and then shares information in a way that allows the students to discover their own connection with the learning material.
Cassie Cox is a genius at this and the amount of heart she gives to her work is unparalleled. Any classroom, and especially any student, would be blessed and very fortunate to have her as a leader and a guide. My daughter was a struggling teenager. Cassie saw a light in her that other teachers had missed. She got her out of her shell and on track to an amazing journey, spoken word poetry. She challenged her in ways that helped her to succeed, so my daughter could light her own fire within. I am not sure where we would be if it was not for Mrs.Cox. To know her is to know strength, admiration, beauty, success, helpfulness, happiness, love, caring, and compassion. I highly recommend Mrs. Cassie Cox. It is an honor to know her and what she stands for. She is an absolutely astonishing teacher that goes above and beyond in all that she does.
Mrs. Cox was my favorite teacher, I only knew her for about a year but it was the most fun time I’ve ever had in an English class. I struggled a lot my senior year with my dyslexia and adhd, and her class made it so easy to follow along and feel like I knew what I was doing. Mrs. Cox brings such an amazing energy to teaching that it made me actually want to learn and continue to be in school. If it wasn’t for her helping me and pointing me in the right direction I wouldn’t have my diploma. I’ve always struggled in school, since 3rd grade I’ve always been put into sped English and math classes. Which made me feel different and like I didn’t belong. My first 2 years of high school I attended a school that was very unwelcoming. I didn’t have any friends that went there with me ,I dreaded going to school. A few months into my junior year my dad passed away, I completely stopped going to school for about 4-5 months and then I wasn’t on track to graduate anymore. I thought about dropping out but I knew it wasn’t good for me. I ended up deciding to transfer over to two rivers high school for my senior year, and that was the best decision I could have made. I didn’t have Mrs. Cox for the first few months of me being there but I always heard of everything she taught, funny or uplifting things she said, the different notebook activities she did and all of the brilliant of writers she helped and pushed to go out of their boundaries. I remember a girl that was always very quiet and shy (like me) that was an amazing writer and when she would share her stories they would always blow everyone away. Before having Mrs. Cox’s class I didn’t read a book on my own for years and years, it became to hard for me to concentrate and understand books. Now I’ve been graduated for about a year and I’m constantly reading and listening to audio books. Mrs. Cox is a very fun and uplifting teacher, but she also can talk about serious topics and make you want to listen. We would talk about loss and grief, depression, anxiety, and how to cope with your feelings. She lets her students free write and feel like it’s a safe place to share. Mrs. Cox made such a huge impact on my life and many other students and teachers and I will never forget that. I will continue to love and miss her class, I’m very excited to see what more she can do for students in the future!
Mrs. Cox is the most fun loving teacher. She has put her heart and souls into teaching and never under delivers. She has taught, guided and mentored hundreds if not thousands of students in the Ogden area who have been told they would never amount to anything. She put her all into making sure these students felt, love, secure and have a safe place to learn and express themselves. Her teaching style is very personal, and easy to grasp. She is very creative and loves to help bring the creative writer out of everyone.
My 12th grade year was absolutely amazing because of this woman. She not only inspired me to get out of my comfort zone in writing I also built a lot of confidence to speak and expand my mind in English. When I would get stuck in anything she would offer help in a heart beat this woman is amazing at what she does and is the reason why I love writing now!
Cassie helped me through a lot of things, not just in school, but my personal life. She is the most kind hearted, passionate, and wonderful person and teacher there is. Her class was always my favorite because she made learning fun! I learned a lot from her class, and also learned to like reading. I always looked forward to being there. She was meant to be a teacher!
Class with Cassie is what got me through high school, between all the other teachers always pushing me away from my own personal creativity to learn a core core. Cassie taught me core and aloud me self expression, how to journal, write poetry, lyrics, novelettes, and not to mention I still read books today and find a word of the week to expand my vocabulary. Best teach this kid could have ever asked for. Thanks for helping me get across the finish line- I would have never graduated without you.
when we would have to write in notebooks and she let us fold certain pages so she wouldn’t read it and let us write any of our feelings and she never told anyone the secrets we would write.
Cassie is a trustworthy teacher because she cares about her students well being and education. She goes above and beyond in her classroom; from creating fun engaging lessons, to making sure students have absolutely everything they need for any kind of assignment. She makes sure her classroom is a safe and comfortable environment. Cassie also continues to teach and support people that are no longer students. Cassie is a great role model, as a teacher, and as a friend.
Cassie is absolutely amazing and down to earth. She doesn't mind not fitting inside the box. Cassie cares and understands that life can be tough. She is always there to help you through the road bumps.
She really helped me enjoy english and I was actually passing english when I was in her class, I had never passed an english class before that. She made everything about english fun, from writing to reading, there was usually some creative twist she would throw on it. She’s so eccentric and caring, definitely someone you will want to have crossed paths with. She will notice you and make sure you feel welcomed into her class no matter whether you’re a social butterfly or someone who just keeps to themselves. Cassie is a very good teacher who I’d recommend wholeheartedly to anyone.
Cassie Cox is hands down the most influential teacher I have ever met. She has a spunky and creative personality that makes learning fun. She got me into reading more when I couldn’t even pick up a book before. She makes you feel confident and gives you little techniques on how to improve your reading and grammar. She goes above and beyond for her students and has an unbelievable amount of patience. You always leave her teachings feeling confident, positive and accomplished. I will forever be grateful that I experienced Mrs. Cox as a teacher, and I know everyone else will too.
Cassie Cox was and is my absolute favorite English teacher. She taught me so much and never gave up on me, though I was stubborn and skipped school. She never hesitated to call my dad and tell him I wasn’t there. She saw my potential and fostered my education while I wasn’t worrying about it. Cassie genuinely loves teaching and loves her students. She was and is always there for me and I still enjoy talking to her from time to time. It’s been 10 years since I graduated and I still turn to her for English related questions or to chat. I love Mrs. Cox, and anyone that has the chance to learn from her or know her, is very fortunate.
“Always ask until the answer is yes.” This is something she told me that to this day gives me courage and strength. To go after what I want out of life. To fulfill every goal I wanted. I love Mrs cox she was the best teacher I ever had.
I was one of Mrs Cox students in 2012-2013. I struggle with a learning disability. Spelling and grammar was one of my most difficult hurtles, so as you can imagine English class was never something I looked forward to. Until I met Mrs Cox. She created an experience that excited my interest in reading and writing like no teacher was able to. As a 26 year old now I still find myself using vocabulary I specifically learned from her class. She has one of the most incredible attitudes that made it impossible for me to feel bad when I’d get papers with corrections because as her student I knew she was correcting it because she genuinely cared and wanted me to be better at life, not just her class. I still have my note books from her class because I love the memories this woman made for me. You will want her to teach you or your child because you will remember the experience she gives learning for the rest of your life.
Having Cassie Cox as a teacher in your school would be like winning the lottery. She’s incredible at what she does, truly cares for her students, and goes above and beyond further than any teacher I’ve ever seen or had. She’s a ray of sunshine in an often dark world and a true pleasure to know. Having her as my English teacher was a true privilege!
She is an amazing teacher that truly goes above and beyond to make sure her students exceed in what they are doing . Forever grateful .
Cassie Cox was my honors English teacher in my senior year of high school back in 2012. Because of her I’m currently pursuing English as my minor in college. She taught me to love reading and writing, as well as showing me how to really love literature. I was a troubled kid and she seriously helped me turn my life around because she was always so kind and patient. She gave me a creative outlet to express some of the things I never thought I could. Not only is she the most incredible teacher I’ve ever had, she is one of the most phenomenal women that it has ever been my pleasure to know. ️

I am also happy to offer 30-minute sessions for $25 per hour. If you live in my area, I am more than happy to travel for an additional $10 transportation fee. We can meet and work together in a comfortable, public place. As a teacher, I fully understand that many students learn better when working one-on-one with a knowledgeable instructor.
