As a professional vocalist, song-writer, and music educator, myself, I’ve had the wonderful experience of knowing and working with Dr. Frank for over 30 years. We met when we both were students of the legendary bassist, Al Stauffer.
He's an outstanding musician, master guitarist, composer-arranger, and educator. He’s studied with some of the top music educators in the greater Philadelphia area and he’s extremely knowledgeable about music – both in theory and technique, as well as performance. Although Dr. Frank is known by many as a Jazz guitarist, his talents in a variety of musical genres have made him an “in-demand” musician. Not all great musicians make great educators, but Dr. Frank is an exceptional teacher. He has the ability, patience, passion and experience to know what his students need to continue to develop their skills and achieve their musical goals. He’s friendly and funny and is well-respected by other professionals, as well as his students. Any student will be lucky to have him as a music teacher, and any school will benefit to have him as a colleague!

Dr. Frank is part of the long lineage of performing and teaching Jazz - everything from accompaniment, improvising, composing, arranging. I enjoyed playing with him for about 3 years while we lived in the Allentown area, and as a sideman, I thoroughly enjoyed learning from his ideas, his responsiveness, and overall artistic approach to learning formally and organically. Aside from that, the time spent with him off-the instruments, provided the window into his vast playing experiences (from being in Sinatra's band, playing behind comedians in Atlantic City, and just being a part of that vibrant time of jazz development). Highly recommend him as an instructor.
I've known Frank over forty years. He is a wonderful musician. I was a guitar student of Frank when I was younger, and not at all the player I am now. He gave me the framework to facilitate my ideas. Frank led me down the path of musical righteousness.
Dr. Frank is one of the most knowledgeable musicians I have ever met. He not only comes with an impeccable résumé but he is also very kind and patient and very skilled at instructing students. I have been learning some jazz music with him as a complete novice and he has been absolutely wonderful to work with . He has an excellent reputation and I would recommend him very highly.
I've known Frank since 1975- we both studied with a few of the same teachers. Frank was an inspiration to me then, and he still is. He knows the music and the guitar cold, but equally important, he has a big heart. His enthusiasm and knowledge are very motivating.
I had the pleasure of working with FranK on the faculty of Moravian College in the Jazz Department, and playing with him in the faculty Jazz Quartet. Along with being a master guitarist, he has a strong knowledge of all music across the board, in both theory and practice. He can treat his students as friends, but with complete honesty and a congenial sense of humor. In short, he is a terrific teacher.
We have known Dr Frank for many years through friendship and now he's one of the family. A world-class master guitarist who has incredible knowledge and is an amazing teacher. Our son has been taking lessons for a short time. The training he has received in a few years equals the knowledge of a much more advanced player. Our son can see the value in every minute shared during each lesson. We are so grateful to have Dr Frank as our son's mentor. I would recommend him to anyone who's considering learning guitar. He is kind, patient, and an all around great guy!!
Most qualified, patient, truly gifted teacher. I'd trust that anyone who goes to Frank for lessons will come out much more skilled.
Legitimately the most impactful teacher I have ever had. Dr. D’s musical history and resume speaks for itself. He is a class act and truly as good as it gets. You will learn from real life experience that he has had with all of the greats.
I’ve known Frank since we were teenagers, we both love music and Jazz! We use to listen to jazz and try and guess who the players were ( we got real good at that) ! Frank’s been one of the top jazz guitarist in Philly since the 70s. I’ve always been impressed with his dedication and musical knowledge. He been teaching for years and some of his students are playing professionally! What more can I say!
Frank is a true professional respected and liked by top industry players.
His years of study and practice with the very best teachers has made him one of the very best music instructors to study from.I first met Dr. Frank back in 2016. He was the most highly recommended teacher in my area and as the years have gone by, I understand why. Frank is very patient, kind, and quickly understands what he needs to focus on with a particular student. He possesses a mastery of the guitar and the overall world of music that is shown from his ability to play to his knowledge of music theory. He will also help you to define the ins and outs of the music business as a result of his decades of experience. He has been and continues to be a wonderful mentor to me. Highly recommend!
Frank DiBussolo is a wonderful guitarist with extensive performance and recording credentials who also has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Combs College where he also went on to serve on the faculty. I can't imagine a student who would fail to benefit from his extensive experience in music and education.
I have known Frank for over 50 years, in fact, we both studied with the same teacher, the great Joseph Sgro. Frank is an excellent musician, and teacher, as his years in the Combs college can attest. He has my warmest recommendation!
I would highly recommend Frank! Not only is he a wonderful instructor but a wonderful person. He goes above and beyond for his students as well as guiding parents. My daughter has been taking lessons for years and in my opinion he’s the best on the East Coast!
Frank is one of the finest guitarists I ever known. He teaching style is stellar. I went from playing 3 chord songs to When Sunny gets blue, his chord melody method is excellent. I was fortunate enough to work near where he used to live, one of the first things he taught me was proper strumming and being able to transpose on the spot. A good man with a sense of humor and he makes a mean chili.
Dr. Frank DiBussolo is an innovative, world class artist who has long ranked as among the finest performers--anwhere-- on his instrument. As an instructor, he has the rare ability to communicate his incredible wealth of knowledge, ranging from music history and jazz styles to guitar technique-- to guitar students of every age, style, and level. His patience, understanding, dedication and responsibility has made him one of the most outstanding music educators in the industry. When it comes to choosing a teacher, Dr. Frank DiBussolo is the only serious choice. -- Dr. Bruce H. Klauber
Dr. Frank was a great guitar teacher for my son. He taught him all the jazz chords, how to do improvisation and how to put his own emotions into his music. Dr. Frank also incorporated a lot of theory in his lessons which was really helpful for my son.
Frank and I worked as a duo called Pairadocs as we are both Doctors in our chosen fields. Frank is probably one of the most talented musicians I have ever known. He was also my guitar instructor for a short time. That was a task. He's a great teacher because he can offer simple explanations that are easy to follow especially for the beginner but yet, is able to equally instruct on the highest level of performance .. His patience is timeless and his manner is relaxed making it easier for the student to absorb and remember without stressful thinking.I definitely recommend him as a tutor or instructor. His performing experience is fascinating and makes learning more interesting knowing the instructor really knows his craft.
I’ve known Dr. Frank for more than 10 years. He is a master guitarist and an amazing teacher. I have watched his students grow into amazing musicians. I give him my highest recommendation.
Dr Frank, is one of the most gifted Musicians that you will ever meet.
His love of Music and the History of Music comes out in all he does.
He is not only knowledgeable but also a Master of his Art.
He has been Grammy Nominated 8 times, and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from his Community.
His Students adore him.
First the first time I worked with him , I knew he was a Musical Genius.Frank is everything that’s right about music education. I studied jazz guitar with Frank for years and found him to be a warm and caring teacher who is encouraging and has a real passion for music. His knowledge and experience are astounding and he has a real knack for simplifying complicated concepts. And while he obviously has expertise in all facets of music, he is very pragmatic and can get you performing at higher levels in short order. It’s not often you find a great player who is also a great teacher. But that is exactly what you find in Frank Dibussolo.
Dr. Frank is the man.
His artistry and knowledge of music exceeds normal standards bestowing his vast experience on his students.
Chef Louie Desiato, Entrepreneur and guitar aficionado.I've known Frank DiBussolo for several decades through his many jazz guitar concerts in Bethlehem. His ability to play solo, in a duo and leading a combo is marvelous while maintaining a gracious and welcoming attitude with the audience - no small thing, especially for a prospective teacher in the studio or classroom. Frank's the best!
I have worked with Frank for many years in my studio on various projects pro projects. Recently one of his students did a session with me. Her technique was fantastic. You can tell that her training was a huge part of her success. I highly recommend Frank DiBussolo as a teacher and mentor for any student.

Grammy and CMA voting member. As a violin and piano teacher, I have known Dr. Frank for almost twenty years, and have taken lessons from him over the years in theory and improvisation. Dr. Frank is truly a master, in teaching as well as in performance. His ability to break down complex concepts into learnable components while making it seem fun and easy is unique to him, and he is masterful in getting his students to implement these concepts into their playing. I highly recommend Dr. Frank for the advanced serious student as well as for those who are just starting out - he will get you where you want to be faster than anyone else.
