About the lesson
Teaching anything is not a "one size fits all approach". When I teach, I adjust how I interact musically and personally with the student based on who that student is as an individual. If a student is old enough, we discuss what their goals are on their instrument and what types of music they enjoy. Above all, learning music should remain FUN at any level. It is my job to make sure the student stays engaged and interested in what they are learning. I will also say that the student/teacher relationship is a partnership. The teacher has responsibilities, but so does the student. Teaching is a sharing of ideas from both sides and a successful teacher also learns from their student!

About Erin
I am a woodwind specialist, performing on Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Saxophone and Clarinet and piano. I hold a Bachelors degree Eastman School of Music in Bassoon Performance and Instrumental Music Education and a Masters degree from Boston University. I have over 10 years of teaching experience including teaching overseas in Japan and China as the USA. My students not only instrumental instruction, but also music theory and history that is incorporated throughout lessons. My students participate in All-State, All-District, All-County ensembles, North Carolina Youth Orchestras and also go on to continue music at the college level. For interested bassoonists, I also teach reed making classes.
