About the lesson
In our lessons together, we will make sure trumpet playing is not only more fun, but easier! Through diligent and incremental progress, we can take your playing to the next level. Even better, we can also be working on such skills as improvising, composing, and playing etudes of all kinds!
We will tailor your warm up and fundamental practices to suit both your needs and strengths, then build upon those skills to learn to play more efficiently with a natural beautiful sound throughout the registers. Then we will hit the repertoire with fun and challenging music that you help to choose.
I am well suited to teach comeback players at a moderate level, moderate to advanced high schoolers, and most college level trumpet players.
Let's work together to achieve your goals, whether it's nailing your gig, getting a new one, or getting accepted into the university you dream of attending!

About Michael
Michael is currently attending New England Conservatory in Boston, MA earning a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance.
Over the last ten plus years, Michael has performed as a freelance trumpeter in Texas, onboard Carnival and Princess Cruise lines, and in Canada (where his wife is from) before winning a position with the US Navy Fleet Bands.
Michael's biggest passion is his family, then his music. He loves spending time camping and traveling with his wife and kids, then filling up his free time performing, composing, and practicing, as well as being an avid reader and staying active.
Michael would love to work with you or your child as a student and looks forward to the opportunity to start paying forward the skills he has learned.

Mike has been an incredible teacher. He is not only incredibly personable, positive, knowledgeable, and a great jazz trumpet player, but he tailors lessons to you and ensures that you meet all your goals. He makes lessons and difficult technique very approachable, and stays organized so that you keep covering new skills and ideas.
LOOK NO FURTHER! Michael is an exceedingly knowledgeable trumpet instructor and professional musician. His skills on the trumpet serve as a great example to his students and his years of study provides him with the means to pass on his craft to his students.
I first began lessons with Michael in my junior year of high school. I was already proficient in my instrument and gigging professionally. Or at least I thought I was. Michael helped me reached that next level of playing with the perfect exercises tailored to my needs at the time which were getting into the upper range of the trumpet and maintaining control and intonation when slurring and being more flexible in the higher register of the instrument. With Michael's help i have accomplished this and more and am now studying to further my education at Berklee College of Music! Any level, any genre, Michael knows what he is doing and can help any student advance in the areas they need to work on. Thank you Michael for your help over the years and best wishes to any students who will be taken under his wing!Mike is an excellent teacher, his classes are very didactic and he is in charge of explaining you in detail. He has extensive knowledge of jazz performance and how to internalize the exercises he teaches.
He explained many exercises and tips for the musical and technical interpretation of the instrument that I continue to apply every day to be better. Highly recommended.I have met Mike in a Jam session. The way he plays the trumpet catched me inmediately. Since I started to have classes with him, I have improved my live in general. Not just trumpet stuffs, he's recommended me a lot of things to be a better disciplined person. I have learned new jazz's stuff that I've never heard before, and also he's made me see the life in a better way. Thanks to him, I can be a better trumpet player day by day.
