About the lesson
I begin by identifying learning goals with my students and customizing lessons to meet their individual needs, whether it's test prep, casual conversation, or reading a novel together. Everyone has different goals for learning, so I'll use a variety teaching materials and methods to get the information across. A typical lesson will begin with warm-up conversation, followed by "the main event" (learning from a textbook, listening to short clips from an audio recording to build vocabulary, etc.). We'll then wind down the lesson by going over homework and making casual conversation about the week ahead. I feel comfortable teaching at any level in English, French and Japanese, so anyone interested in improving their skills in these languages is welcome!

About Aya
I have been teaching English, French and Japanese for over a decade! I prefer individual or small group lessons over classroom teaching, because I believe in customizing lessons to meet individual learning goals.
Here is a little bit about me:
- I grew up in France. After relocating to the US in middle school, I continued my studies in French and French Literature through college. More recently, I have been working with French language publishers to translate academic essays, articles, and interviews. I currently tutor students in test prep (SAT, AP) and conversation.
- I studied in the US through college, and then moved to Japan to teach English at an Eikaiwa school. I taught test prep (TOEFL and EIKEN), children's classes, and adult classes of all levels. I now teach SAT prep to high school students, and work with ESL students on grammar, accent reduction, and conversation.
- I grew up in a Japanese household and was home schooled by my family. I moved to Japan after college, and after leaving my English teaching job, I worked for a production firm in Tokyo. After moving back to the US, I worked for a couple of Japanese logistics firms and began tutoring students in Japanese, focusing on grammar, vocabulary building, and conversation.
