About Lars
I started saxophone in 1989 but was bored because I had no one to play with. In 1993, I restarted saxophone because the new school had a band. From that point, I've made music a part of my life. I played in the high school band, jazz band and sang in the choir for one year. In university, I played in multiple ensembles including wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, saxophone quartet and saxophone ensemble.
I've taught music since 2004. In 2009 I moved overseas and taught music in China and Korea for 12 years. During that time I've taught music from age 3 to IBDP Music.

As a high school student, I was fortunate to have Mr. Lars as my music teacher during my four years of study because I had a lot of fun with his class. The first is that in his music class, students can have more opportunities to explore music. Of course, not only in instruments and singing, Mr. Lars often uses more and more interesting objects to create music. And he is also a caring music teacher. In every performance in the school, he can give every student the opportunity to perform and encourage them to show themselves on the stage. In my own experience, as a xylophone player, I was too nervous on stage and made mistakes, and Mr. Lars would patiently teach and use a playful tone to reduce my nervousness. Moreover, in terms of professional music theory knowledge, Mr. Lars will also use more interesting and innovative teaching methods, not just in textbooks, such as teaching through soundtracks in movies/games, etc. Overall, Mr. Lars is a very interesting music teacher. Students will not feel bored in his class, and I really enjoyed learning and creating in his class.
Lars is a remarkable character and talent with a sense of humour that has provided several lighter moments in times when these are needed. He is a multi-talented musician dedicated to his art and craft and is something to be admired and applauded.
He is always looking for outlets, possibilities, technology, research, peers to enhance his students learning and instil in them that passion he so openly manifests in his classroom and in the student performances and orchestras he organises. He continually seeks to innovate and find avenues for students to improve their learning in the real world by participating in concerts and workshops outside the realm of the "school gates", or for that matter the state, and the, in some cases the country in which he has taught!
I wish him all the best in this venture, something I know he will excel in as he always does.
I worked with Lars for 5 years at one school in China and 2 years at a previous school in Korea. Lars is a loyal and trustworthy Music teacher. He is collaborative and supports the work of the team. Lars gets behind student-centred initiatives . He is an innovator who can be trusted to put student learning abs student welfare at the centre.
I have known and worked with Lars for the past ten years. Lars is a wonderful and talented teacher. He is supportive and is able to teach music for all ability levels. Lars has always been aware of where students are at, in terms of their music knowledge and skill and is able to guide their progress systematically and gradually. Students have made great progress studying with Lars. He is able to reach students and meet them at their level of musicianship. Lars teaches in a fun and enjoyable manner. He has substantial music literature and history knowledge. I fully recommend Lars as a teacher. He is knowledgable, a very talented musician, composer and arranger, is committed to what he does and most importantly cares about his students' learning.
