As a native speaker of both English and Portuguese, I can communicate the nuances of word meanings to ensure that you learn the best way to express yourself in Portuguese (without sounding like an awkward gringo). I tailor my lesson plans to YOU. Whether you’d like to focus on speaking or writing, professional or colloquial language, I can get you to your goals. Having majored in Psychology with a focus on language and culture, and having been a teacher in various capacities over 5 years, I have developed the best techniques to make language learning easy and to help it stick. About Sabrina

Having native fluency in a language doesn’t automatically make someone an excellent teacher for that language. Understanding how our brains learn language, how to optimize learning, and crafting that into a curriculum is what makes someone an excellent language teacher. This is what I have done over the past 3 years of teaching Portuguese. My Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on language and culture laid a foundation for how I teach Portuguese now. My curriculum is informed by up-to-date research on how our brains best learn language. I have also used my experience with clients to refine my methods and discover new tricks to help make learning Portuguese a smoother process. Most of all, I make sure that the Brazilian Portuguese I teach is modern (as the language changes so quickly) and relevant to my students’ goals.

Sabrina is a great teacher. We started working on portuguese about a year ago before I would take my first trip to Brazil 6 months later. I was able to understand and read at a beginner level and could order food while I was there. We are continuing our studies so that I will be able to move around a lot easier when I go back in January. Obrigado meu professora.
