About the lesson
Overview:
My services include any assistance with reading/writing school work the student may need relating to writing/reading, as well as (optional) light additional assignments to boost the student’s grasp of concepts and/or enjoyment of the subject. Students are encouraged to submit drafts of papers in progress to me ahead of time to be discussed during their next session. Outside of school reading assignments are based both on the student’s reading level and personal interests. I am available for tutoring English/Language Arts and Creative Writing to upper elementary, middle school, high school, gap year, and college students. I am also available for freelance editing and apprenticeship services for aspiring authors of children's and young adult fiction. Services are conducted over Zoom (occasionally in-person) and through editorial notes.
Included Services:
1-hour tutoring session
Provide guidance on school-assigned papers, readings, homework, etc.
Provide detailed editorial notes on papers/assignments to be discussed in-session (I strongly suggest submitting papers to me in advance, as outlined in my policies)
Provide guidance on reading choices for independent reading in collaboration with student/based on student’s interests and reading level
Phone, email, or Zoom consultation with student’s in-school English teacher (optional)
Monthly or bi-monthly Tutor/Parent Meetings (15 mins if monthly, 30 mins if bi-monthly, to be conducted after a tutoring session) (optional)
Provide light and fun writing exercises—these may be creative writing prompts (including observational prompts, fiction writing, poetry writing, or skit writing), expository writing, personal essay prompts, research prompts, reading response assignments, grammar workbook exercises, etc. (optional)
