About the lesson
YouTube tutorials on production often give pointed answers rather than providing a fundamental understanding of music production. Since I'm self-taught and have studied music production at the collegiate level, my wholistic teaching approach that will give you the skills to make the music of your dreams.
That being said, we'll start by planning short-term and long-term goals, and put together a personalized plan of study based on your previous experience (if any). Then we'll jump right into making your preferred genre of electronic music.

About Colin
Originally from San Francisco, Colin has taught music production in a variety of settings, including alongside YouTube star "Quadeca."
Colin began his music journey in Classical Music playing the Violin and Flute. Later, he picked up the Piano and Guitar. His main instrument has been the voice, having sung opera professionally with multiple groups in S.F. After multiple years of music theory study, he is well versed to teach both basic and advanced topics relevant to all genres of music.
For the past 6 years, he has shifted his focus to electronic dance music, and has experience producing many sub-genres, including dubstep, synthpop, drum and bass, psytrance, house, hyperpop, breakcore, ambient, lo-fi and more. He also has experience creating music for video games and other visual media.
As a recording, mixing, and mastering engineer, Colin has worked on rock, pop, RnB, choral, a cappella, solo and ensemble classical, jazz, and more.
Colin is most proficient with Ableton, but can teach Logic Pro X, FL Studio, and Reaper.

Perfect! Colin has been great getting me on my feet with music production. He has no problem diving into concepts to make sure I understand before moving on. He's very patient and knowledgeable. He can go over songs that sound impossible to create and break them down into understandable chunks. I highly recommend Colin as a tutor.
