About the lesson

Hello, I have my MFA(Craft), and BFA (Intermedia) as well as 18 years of teaching experience. I offer lessons to elementary aged children, middle school, high school as well as adults.

I ask my students what areas of interest they are needing assistance with, what they would like to gain from the lesson, and what areas they would like to push in their Artistic practice.

I am a firm believer in individualized learning, patience, and the importance of allowing discovery through gentle guidance and choice.

I gave my first lesson 18 years ago, and have many years of experience teaching with community programs and private Montessori based schools.

I have taught hundreds of students though these programs

Through my classes, students have received college scholarships and an increased confidence in there skills, and have expressed deep joy and determination to enjoy their craft on their own time.

Sarah has been working with my son since last December, teaching him drawing lessons, (which he's never had) and is now teaching him how to paint. She has been such a blessing in that she is so talented and technically skilled while also kind, encouraging and professional. My son used to say he couldn't draw and now he's drawing on his own time and realizing that he can draw and it's not hard. He's really excited to continue drawing and to learn how to paint--and I am so happy for him!

Its my pleasure to provide this recommendation for Sarah. As the director of Education at BodyVox Dance, I’ve enjoyed having Julia on the teaching team for our summer camp we host for 3-10 yr olds.
Sarah is charismatic and creative, and she thinks outside the box. She has shown excellent classroom management skills, which is saying something at our Camp: each class is about 30 children, classes are back to back, ages vary form 3-10 yrs, and she was given a tight budget with which to design her curriculum. Children in each age group seemed to be very content with Teacher Sarah and left class happy and with something produced that they could feel good about.

Sarah developed a rapport with students, colleagues, helpers, and parents that is characterized by mutual respect. I hope to have her back for our camps in the future.
