About the lesson
Whether you're working on new material, dusting off an old monologue, auditioning for college, or going in for a professional gig - I'm here to help you break it down and make it work. We start with the basics (who, what, when, where, why?) then open up to a bigger world of compelling choices and impactful storytelling. It's supposed to be fun isn't it? That's why they call it a play.

Perfect! From my first session with Ashley, and going over the script, I feel that she helped me look at the character, the characters objection and motives in a different way. I learned more in a one hour session with her than I have in all my time working in an acting class setting. That's the benefit of having a great teacher work one on one with you.
She genuinely wants to teach you, prepare you, she won't let you get too ahead of yourself. If she sees you're more concerned with the harvest before you've even put seeds in the ground she'll pull you back into focus which is discipline I need because I sometimes tend to get ahead of myself.
I look forward to many more sessions with Ashley and growing as an actor.- Ashley's response : Carlos is eager to learn and confident in his convictions. I'm excited to see the strong choices he makes in his performances, and how he will stretch himself out of his comfort zone!
Perfect! My daughter loved Ashley. She is a very dedicated teacher. Even in her first free class she stayed the entire duration and taught earnestly. Awesome teacher !! She really knows her subject and worth every bit!!
- Ashley's response : Maddie is a stellar student! A great listener, and soaks up new concepts like a sponge. She is respectful, open, and passionate about the work!

Ashley is talented, dedicated, and incredibly professional. I've known her for years now, and I've never seen her give anything less than 110%. She has a keen artistic eye for herself and others, and she has the training to pass on some serious knowledge. Would recommend!
Ashley is the most hardworking, honest, and brilliant woman I know. Her acting skills are only surpassed by her kindness and love of human nature. If you want to take your work to the next level, take a lesson with Ashley Morton. She has brought new light to older work of mine and brought me new material. Highly recommend!
Ashley is a phenomenal acting coach. She worked with me on some sides for an important self-tape I had, and now I wouldn't want to work with anyone else! She helped me make strong choices that best suited the character and the scene, but most importantly, she made me feel comfortable and confident. I would recommend her to anyone!
Ashley, is one of the best teachers I know! She has the experience from her time studying Drama in London to her BFA received from USC. She finds the deeper meaning of the work through fun text analysis, finding the root of your character's wants/needs, and breaking down a scene. Highly recommend her as a teacher!
Ashley is an incredibly charismatic and trustworthy leader/teacher. Her upbeat sensibilities create a safe and fun learning environment. She is great at understanding the differing needs of her students and adjusting the practice to follow suit.
I’ve worked with Ashley professionally as an actor and I believe she would be a wonderful teacher for Superprof! Ashley is the definition of sunshine! She is kind, passionate and exuberant and she is incredible at bringing artists together and fostering community. She’s also a very talented and versatile performer! She would be a patient, honest, fun and caring teacher — everything that you’d want out of a teacher and more!
Aside from being an unshakably kind, trustworthy, and a hilarious force of a human, Ashley is an outstanding teacher. She commands the room without raising her voice, gives honest and constructive notes that still honor the actor's instincts and crafts performances that are equally as entertaining and clever as they are poignant. Really, she's just magic. She has a mastery of the craft - with loads of training to back that up - and is the ultimate ensemble leader. It's always a privilege to work with Ashley.
I met Ashley at USC where she was pursuing her BFA in acting. Ashley is truly one of the hardest working actresses in NYC. Having started a fantastic cabaret (Best, Bold & Brand New), Ashley is a go-getter who has created a safe space for actors and singers to explore their craft, all the while mastering the performing arts herself as an actress, singer, comedienne, MC, producer, etc. Ashley is a formidable performer, her keen eye for detail and artistic finesse makes her a fantastic mentor!
My name is Tyler Miclean. I am an actor.
For context:
Ashley and I have met and collaborated on almost every level of the theatrical experience: workshops, classes, development, auditions, readings, production, performance, etc. I am a witness to her unrelenting passion and devotion to the craft of acting and production; this in combination with her refined and gracious skill as an actor herself.
You do want an acting teacher you can trust, since discovering and mastering your acting ability can be, at times, a vulnerable and humbling endeavor.
Trust involves respect. Not only is Ashley someone who can literally command respect, but she is also someone who's personal expression as an actor will instinctually command it. She is skillful and reproducible in that skill. In your collaboration and instruction under Ashley, you will witness for yourself her masterful technique as well as her supreme sense of self and character.
Trust involves the right atmosphere for attempting that which is uncomfortable. Ashley is not self-serving or notorious in her thoughts, commentary, or critique. She is clear, clever, and careful. She is not merely a scholar of art, she is an artist. With that distinction comes the heart of one who wants to see great art, not merely tear down that which is not fully formed. You will find, I'm sure, with Ashley as your instructor, someone who comes alongside you in this process, not someone who stands above you and dictates unintelligibly.
Trust involves sufficient belief. Do you believe that this will work: that your instructor can teach you acting or rather deepen your understanding of the art form and enhance and expand your ability to perform it? Ashley is a phenomenal communicator and does not engage in the sometimes babbling, incoherent analysis of acting. She can offer you coherent, joyful, and impressionable insight as well as demonstrate that insight. You can trust that she can make a difference in your knowledge and practice of acting.
She is a seriously devoted practitioner. You can only help your craft by studying under her.View more recommendations
