About the lesson

I adopt a student-centered and personalized teaching method for learners from middle school to university level. The student and I will play an equally active role in the teaching process. The learning plan will be individualized to suit the needs of each student depending on their learning pace and style, their established knowledge, their previous experience and their interests and skills. Apart from the traditional learning tools (slides, books, articles...), we will be using the flipped classroom method, games, flashcards, useful applications and on-the-spot mnemonics to make the learning experience more exciting and practical. Since high school I have been helping friends, relatives and neighbors achieve high grades in different disciplines. I have an adequate teaching experience in order to help you achieve your goals through the easiest, the most suitable and the most amusing way possible!

When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
I have always loved medicine. The problem-solving aspect of it, the understanding of the human body. It's fascinating. Knowing the mechanism of every disease, of every physiological event was very captivating. I chose to spread my love for medicine and biology specifically through this platform so I help other students gain knowledge and passion.

Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I teach everything related to the human body with passion. Pathophysiology is my field, but I also like to help students with other disciplines such as microbiology, anatomy, genetics, and chemistry to a lesser extent.

Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
Most of the instructors at medical school were role models at some point in time. Their love for helping patients, for understanding their disease, for trying to simplify it so that patients from any educational level understand what's happening in their body. All this pushed me to go into the medical field and try to influence as many students as possible to also follow this path.

What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
Being a good tutor requires patience, enthusiasm, and passion for teaching. Being an excellent tutor necessitates also that you understand each student, and their weak and strong points so that you base your teaching plan on that. As such, you will be benefiting them to the maximum.

Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
When my friends and I had exams in premedical years, we would love to explain the material to each other. That's very efficient since only a student will know what another student struggles with. They are at similar levels of knowledge most probably and that really helps with choosing the right words and explanations to deliver certain information.

What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?
In these times, online learning is a very effective teaching tool. However, as with any other technique, it has its drawbacks. Sometimes, connection issues or maybe the absence of visual and in-person contact constituted a challenge for adequate learning. But we always worked on overcoming these limitations.

Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
In general, I am passionate about teaching every subject related specifically to biology to students of any educational level.

What really distinguishes a Superprof is their ability to put themselves in the students' shoes. That is what really differentiates me: I am also a student and that would really help me understand the struggles that my own students are suffering from.
