About the lesson
My teaching methodology revolves around salubrious playing (Healthy and ergonomic playing). I am a big believer in making sure that I provide my students different tools and strategies for their “musical toolbox.” I insure that they know how to work through repertoire without pain, teach others, enjoy music-making, and know the theory that wrote it. This results in an overall well-rounded human and musician.

Perfect! Matt was helpful in establishing a flexible practice methodology and providing constructive feedback for improvement.
- Matt's response : Looking forward to helping Zachary continue to learn trombone, he’s definitely putting in the work and I see potential in everything
Perfect! My son enjoyed it and said it will help him in band!
- Matt's response : Excellent communication, clearly puts the work in, progressing at a healthy rate, uses cross instrumental skills to help learn mastery of trombone
Perfect! Thanks to Matt, I went from merely knowing low Bb to play a wide range of notes (A, Ab, G, F#, F, E, B, C, Db, D, Eb, high Bb, etc.) and being able to play them well. If you have Matt as your tutor, you will have a fun time and improve a lot.
- Matt's response : Angel shows a great tendency towards a fuller sound in the lower range of the horn. Currently, he is working on expanding his range through the purposeful engagement of his embouchure (straw method), blowing faster air in order to increase the vibrations of his lips to go higher (Airplane +paper method) and to know the positions 1-7 with accurate note names of each partial (5 Note Roulette).

Great affordable flexible teaching utilizing a variety of different methods and instructional material.
I have been working with Matt for several months now and there has not been a single moment when I doubted his dedication to the craft of trombone performance. He is obviously passionate and it shows both in his playing and in his guidance. I find trombone performance EXCEPTIONALLY nerve-wracking and Matt does a great job making others feel less uncomfortable and nervous in their own playing.
Matt is a pationate and skilled trombonist. His energy and enthusiasm for the instrument is infectious and I can't help but have an amazing time whenever we have a lesson! You'll learn a ton, and have a great time doing it!
