About the lesson
I have a degree in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design, BFA and MFA from Otis College of Art and Design. I have taught fashion design and illustration for three decades in LA and I also teach Master Workshops internationally. I will take students through the process of exploring their own aesthetic as well as researching areas of interest to develop concepts, choose fabrics, create cohesive design ideas, and develop exciting design groups. We will utilize both hand and computer skills. My expertise is also in fashion drawing and illustration, as well as costume design. I teach all levels of students and love womenswear, young menswear, streetwear, and activewear in particular, but I can teach any area of garment design. I also teach students how to design their own prints and methods for creating exciting fabric treatments. Draping and garment development are also an option.

About Kathryn
I have taught fashion design and illustration for three decades in LA and I also teach Master Workshops internationally. My many students still stay in touch with me on Facebook, and provide me with excellent connections in the industry. I work well with local and international students, and love helping each student to find their unique creative voice. For the past four years I have taught collection design in Shanghai, China, as well as workshops in Korea and Mexico. I work well with high school as well as college and post-college students. I have also created drawing textbooks, and I write essays on fashion and culture.
