About the lesson
What is great about music production is there are so many avenues for it. I think finding what an individual is passionate about is most important and then start chipping away at all the aspects of it.
If someone wants be a DJ for example, we can learn the basics:
- Beat matching
- Song choice
- Effects and Transitions
But we can also get into the business side and advance techniques
- How to find good first shows
- How to pick a scene you know and would like to grow in
- How to put your own character and sound into DJing
- How to DJ with Vinyl and Scratching Techniques
On the production side it is the same. These are some of the first and most important questions
- What kind of music do you most enjoy
- Which musicians would you like to see yourself as 10 years in the future
- What do you consider your favorite song
- Do you want to do this as a living or as a hobby
From there we can either focus on endless difference avenues.
- Music Theory
- Learning the ins and outs of a DAW (ex. Ableton or Pro Tools),
- Beat Making
- Song Writing
- Recording Techniques
- Mixing Techniques
- Mastering Techniques
- Music For Film
- Sound Effects
- Live Sound Recording
As you can see theres a lot but we can really find what you're passionate about and how you can get the most out of a session

About Tim
I studied classical piano composition and electronic music in college almost ten years ago. During college I started DJing in New York and after signing to my first label and graduating I toured the world for 3 years playing clubs and festivals like Made in America, Ultra Miami.
After moving to LA I immersed myself in production. Since then I've produced with many incredible musicians big and small. To name a few Tove Lo, Foster the People, Marina and the Diamonds, Slash, Juliette Lewis, Korn, Talib Kweli.

Tim is a chill guy who knows his stuff.
Tim is a trustworthy tutor. He took me from literally zero to feeling confident; sitting on my own for days making real songs from scratch. We learned writing, beat making, even singing. Feeling really good about what I’ve learned in such a short period.
I found Tim online and have been working on and off with him for a couple of years now and he really helps me with any type of work. I've learned so much and he patiently guides me through any problem or techniques I need to work on. He's helped me with my DJing, production, gear choice, and even branding and social network decisions. Couldn't be happier with my decision to work with him.
All I have to say is that Timothy is an amazing composer, song designer, sound designer, and producer. We collaborated on some compositions of mine that were at a very early stage, and he immediately understood the vision and did amazing work taking them to the next level - away from where they were at originally. It was truly unbelievable actually. I highly recommend him for people who want to take their music (or anything else involving sound) very seriously. Incredible value added here. look forward to working with Timothy again.
