About the lesson
Since I am certified in Montessori teaching, I fully apply the Montessori method of teaching, which concentrates on personalized education and in teaching students with the help of sensorial activities.
I have experience working with kids from 3 -7 years old. A typical lesson plan would begging with a 10 minute greeting. In this greeting the student and I sing greeting songs in Spanish and English and talk a little about and specific topic. Then we proceed to the lessons, which consists of activities like reading, writing, presentations, arts and crafts. The lesson plan will always be sent via email the night before the class to the parents and or student, that way all the materials needed for the class are provided the next day and ready for the lesson. I usually ask for paper, crayons, printings, glue and child safe scissors.
What sets me apart from other teachers is my incredible patience, the ability of maintaining students interest and the flexibility in teaching exactly what the student needs. I also have develop the ability to taler lessons to the specific ways of learning of the students. For example; I worked with a child with autism, and his way of learning was through pictures, so I would prepare lessons specifically explaining everything in pictures so he could learn with me.

About Karen
My main goal as a teacher is to make my students feel confident in what they are learning, teach them all the ways that there is to learn and together discover which ones work better for them. I want make my students enthusiastic about learning and show them how learning is fun. I want to make my students feel comfortable enough to ask me to teach them anything they are interested on, and ask for help when they are stuck. I want them to know that is ok to make mistakes and that even though I am the one teaching I am also learning from them.

Karen was one of my daughter's teachers at our local Montessori and we all adored Miss Karen and were so sad to lose her when she moved to Seattle. Her patience and warm energy really made the kids feel comfortable and excited to learn. She plays the ukulele too which is a huge hit with the little ones. When the pandemic hit, Miss Karen would hold lessons over Zoom with our daughter and even though it was a struggle for our daughter to make that transition, Miss Karen was so patient and kept her engaged with the lesson & feeling confident in her progress.
