About the lesson
I've always aspired to being an artist! After receiving my BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers) in 1988, I have gone on to becoming a full time visual artist with 30+ years of experience in drawing, painting, illustration and other media. I take the time to personalize my art lessons to meet the creativity, skill level and artistic needs of each student so they can get the most out of the lessons. I've taught students ages 8-80! My work has been exhibited in galleries and other venues for over 30 years and I've sold to private collectors, businesses and do a lot of freelance illustration work, so I have the passion and skills to help others grow their creativity.
Depending on the student's skill level, we first start with the foundation techniques they need then progress to creating their own works of art focusing on subject matter that interests them. I will also critique the work to help hone their strengths & work on any weaknesses in a supportive & encouraging way. I have experience with pencil, pen & ink, acrylics, watercolors. oils, mixed media, photography & graphic design.

About Lauren
Being a full time freelance artist & art teacher is a dream come true & I look forward to working with new students across the globe! I have many years of artistic experience, beginning with receiving a BFA in illustration, painting & graphics from Mason Gross School of the Arts (Rutgers) in 1988.
Since then I've continued to expand my visual art & teaching career. I currently exhibit around the country & enjoy creating from my personal experiences. I've been commissioned to create paintings, illustrations, graphics, marketing/promo materials and photography for clients from across the US & abroad. The medium I use depends on the project; I work with photography, oils, acrylics, watercolors, pen & ink, & computer graphics (Photoshop). Using this experience enables me to be a better teacher and work with students with a wide range of skills and interests in different subject matter. I teach people of all ages, typically beginners & intermediates, & am always encouraging & supportive of their skill levels.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
I look forward to working with you!

Lauren has been my granddaughter’s art teacher for almost 2 years. She is now a 1st year art major in college and continuing her lessons with Lauren. Her skills, focus and confidence have improved so much and Lauren also has given her knowledge of the business side of art. Lauren is fantastic and we are so grateful for her knowledge, patience and passion!!
Lauren is a wonderful instructor! I have been taking art lessons on and off with her for years, and she is always professional and positive in how she carries herself and her lessons.
I was an absolute beginner with her and I've come a long way, as she has helped me get to the point of submiting my artwork to online galleries! I never thought I would see the day I was proud to enough of my work that I would show it off to others!
She offers helpful and positive criticism, and being that I am someone with anxiety, she always makes me comfortable when I am struggling with learning a new skill.
She is helpful in so many ways, not just with learning how to draw and paint, but we have gone over photo editing, print making, vending, networking and art business. I highly recommend her to anyone of any skill set or level, and I know she works with people of all ages.
Go LaurenLauren is an intuitive and creative teacher. She has given me the confidence to experiment with drawing and crafting; her uncanny knack for learning a student's multiple goals is a critical component of her teaching philosophy. Learning is discovery, creativity and continuous skill building when one works with someone of Lauren's empathy and humor. I'm so pleased to recommend someone of Lauren's wisdom, skill and talent to Superprof's digital community.
Lauren is a expert of social net working and advertising. She is really good in seeing art from a totally different angle. She has ideas that can help improve your outlook on art.
