About the lesson

As a French native speaker living in North Carolina, I have been tutoring elementary, middle, high school and college students over the last 10 years. I focus the lessons on grammar, verbs and fluency while reading, writing, listening and speaking! I can even help students with preparing for AP or IB French exam, with constructive feedback on their essays. I enjoy sharing my culture thru relevant current event videos.
One of my students worked with me for 3 years and maintained strong A's during his High school years and mastered all the verbs across all tenses!

I do focus exclusively on Middle school, high school, college and above. I do not tutor elementary school students, unless it is within an immersion French program. I enjoy grammar and correcting essays by providing constructive feedback on essay form, essay structure and rich vocabulary building. This is one of my strength.

About Charlotte

I am a working professional woman, born and raised in Normandy, France, and I do hold two MBAs (one French, and one from Syracuse University) . I am currently working in digital marketing for financial services. Interestingly, I have lived and worked in many countries prior to coming to the US, including Switzerland, Hungary, Poland. I do speak as well German. I am currently working from Home due to Covid pandemic in South Charlotte, NC.

I am available in the evenings and week-ends. I am perfectly comfortable doing online classes thru Zoom, which allows access to plenty of sites for sharing content and exercices

Lili contacted me last June to help her daughter work on her French during the summer, even from her foreign vacation location, in order to prepare for an entrance exam IN French. She not only succeeded in passing it, but is clearly ahead of her classes. Her two daughters are still actively learning French and making amazing progress.

Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?
I was born and raised in the city of Rouen, which is the capital of Normandy in France.

Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?
As a native of Rouen, I would certainly mention Joan of Arc, which was sadly burnt at stake on May 30th, 1431. Her story is phenomenal and so inspiring

Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?
I really enjoy when French people debate and talk about any subjects, without being too political correct. Voices might be raised at times, but everyone is heard and leaves the table without any hurt feelings.

Why does speaking this language matter to you?
As a native speaker and having lived abroad most of my professional career, I feel that French is such rich language and deserves to be nurtured.

What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
The difficulty of French is the written grammar and the fact that they are so many exceptions to the rules.

How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
I have lived and worked in 5 countries and I have been impressed in some cases by the high fluency of some of my business partners: extremely impressive, especially in Central and Eastern Europe.

What makes you a Super Prof in language?
I have been helping students of all ages for the last 10 years and I have learnt along the way various tricks to help understand some of the most difficult points of grammar. I have met so many terrific students, and can proudly say that I help them to improve their scores. In one specific case, I help a student prepare for an entrance placement tests at a highly competitive high school, and after a whole summer of bi-weekly meetings, she exceeded her initial goal.
