About the lesson
My name is Elena, and I am currently studying Horn performance at the Eastman School of Music (BM ’21). Having grown up in the public-school system in Rochester, NY, I know the value of the music programs offered in these schools on a child’s life. While public school music programs provide the spark for many students to start learning a musical instrument, private lessons supplement these programs with individualized attention to build and grow existing technique and fundamentals, as well as offer a space to learn repertoire that may not be otherwise addressed in a school setting, such as solo repertoire and etudes. I am very excited to meet the next generation of horn players!
Teaching philosophy: To use the individuality of each student’s personality and strengths in order to attack weaknesses systematically and bring out the beauty in each student’s music making. I create an environment open to curiosity and experimentation in order to inspire and motivate the student to find their own musicality.
I can help you with anything! Getting started on the instrument, learning new skills, polishing all-state auditions or seating auditions, reading/writing music, basic theoretical concepts, and more!
I have experience in many musical settings and I hope to share some of what I've learned while mastering this beautiful instrument.
