About the lesson
I absolutely love teaching... nothing brings me more pleasure than to see the progress of my students. I like to start someone off learning solos and standard bass repertoire while also reinforcing their playing with some great technique, so they can get those flashy chops! no matter what level they’re at! Especially if they have auditions coming up on their radar.. I will help as much as I can so that we can succeed. Please call or text my phone whenever because I am 100% committed. I will also always be demonstrating with my own instrument so a student can see and also hear how to achieve the sound they desire.

I got to have lessons with David until they were cut short by covid, but I very much enjoyed the lessons we did have. He gave honest and clear feedback which helped me to understand exactly what I needed to work on. Every lesson was productive and I left feeling motivated to practice and feeling more confident in my playing.
I used to work with David, and I’ve seen him play. I’m also a professional teacher, like David! I can assure you that David is patient, kind, and thoughtful. He can thoroughly explain things in a manner that is clear and doesn’t make people dumb. He loves empowering people with crystal-clear knowledge and people really feel better after they consult with David! He’s able to do these things because he’s intelligent, really likes people, and he wants to help them. These qualities combined with his calm demeanor makes him an effective communicator and instructor! In addition: my father is a professional musician, so I’m very familiar with classical, baroque, and live music. Therefore, I can assure you that David is a great talented instrumentalist! He plays the heck out of the double bass!!!
- Chris B. from PhiladelphiaThis is a great and amazing musician he was a top player in tha International music Festival Guaranda Ecuador. He also was an amazing leader and principal in the bass section at Temple University Orchestra. Great personality and great to work with. Thank you for the memories David!
David is an excellent bassist and musician, and has a great deal to share as a teacher. Anyone would be lucky to learn from him!
David is an amazing bass lesson teacher. During his lessons he is very easy to understand and helped me improve greatly on my bass technique. Davids way of teaching was very enjoyable and also renewed my interest in bass.
I used to study with David three years ago when I was in a youth program lead by a university. He’s really good at helping a student understand a new concept/technique skill. I’m a visual and auditory learner, but he was able to adapt to my style of learning. Because of him, I was able to really advance in my playing in such a short amount of time. I truly do recommend any double bass player who’s struggling or has reached a dead end in their playing to study with David Weiss. Studying with him will give you an advanced outlook on your overall musicianship. Now I study bass performance at a university. I have my own private teacher, but I often email David for some extra lessons on the side time to time.
