About the lesson
I feel really comfortable teaching kids cause I'm really young, but I do not have a problem teaching young or adult people. The first step before helping you is knowing what you need to be helped with, so I need to understand how much chess you have played and what you haven't learned yet.

About Joseph
When I was 5 years old, my dad gave me a chessboard, and I immediately started to love it. Some years later, I started winning the national competition (I've also won a Pan American and a South American). I am a patient person, and I've loved to teach since I was a kid. I've taught people to play chess, and I've also helped friends improve in this beautiful sport.

Excellent teacher! He helped me learn how to solve the Rubik's cube without any problem. I got the beginner's method in a couple of weeks.
Joseph is a great teacher, he is very patient and has a great understanding of both basic and advanced chess strategies.
Joseph helped me learn some new algorithms of 3x3 rubik's cube. He is a good teacher.
Joseph will always use appropriate material for my level. He taught me how to play chess, and he gave some lessons that got me at the amateur level. He is a patient person, and I'd recommend taking his classes to anyone that wants to start.

1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?
I started practicing the Rubik's Cube when I was nine years old. It all happened because I was trying to learn new and funny stuff. I learned the beginner's method and stopped practicing. After some years, I met a friend who also knew how to solve the Rubik's Cube, so we started learning new methods and tricks. Since that moment, I've loved the Rubik's Cube!

2) Which artists or works affect you the most?
I'm from Colombia so my native language is Spanish. One of the first SpeedCubers that I met was Jorge Sánchez. He has a quite interesting YouTube Channel that showed me a lot of new stuff about the Rubik's Cube. After a lot of time, I met J Perm, another YouTuber that creates amazing content. If I want to teach a new method or cube, I usually try to watch some of their videos to see how they'd explain each step.

3) What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?
You have to be patient, and you should also understand the specific issues each person has when trying to learn something new. You also have to be creative, because you need to create nice examples quickly for your students to understand something.
04
4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?
Whenever you need to work on a creative project, you need to be patient and passionate. Creativity is not something constant, you will have brilliant moments, but you could also have moments without any inspiration. If you are passionate about what you are doing, you are more likely to be patient and take your time to develop your project!
05
5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?
My passion is to learn about SpeedCubing and help people learn about it with my knowledge. I feel motivated when I'm teaching someone, and I also enjoy doing it.
06
6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?
I'm proud of the way I've been able to help a lot of people all around the world. I'm also proud of my ability to distinguish the specific problems someone has when learning something. I attribute those two achievements to my creativity.

7) Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?
I usually want people to take their time when learning new algorithms, however, some impressive people have a special ability to get them. Once, I was in a lesson with a boy that didn't know how to solve the Rubik's Cube, and I showed him an algorithm. I explained to him how to remember it and keep going with the lesson. After some time, I asked him to show me the algorithm, and he did it without any problem. That was interesting but not incredible, I wanted to see if he could remember not just one algorithm, so I explained to him some other algorithms that we should use. He was almost perfectly able to solve all of them without hesitation in that same lesson! I was impressed and expressed it to him.

8) Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?
Like I've mentioned before, I think that my main qualities are patience and passion. I love teaching, and I am always patient with my students. I go fast or slow depending on their needs, and I can adjust to the way they want to learn.
