About the lesson
Education has never been and will never be a one size fits all kind of thing, yet it continues to operate as though it is. School districts and teachers try endlessly to combat this inadequate system, but unless the student to teacher ratio lowers, not much can be done. Because of this, tutors, like me, have been employed to provide students with the supplemental help they need to succeed in school, and prepare for college.
My teaching philosophy was built on the idea that education should be personalized—tailored to the needs of each individual. Some students get on fine in the classroom but just need a little help staying organized. Others aren’t challenged enough at school and need additional stimulation. And some really struggle to keep up with the pace at which the teacher is moving and need intervention before their grades, and confidence plummet. I can help ANY student, including those requiring special accommodations.

About Christine
I have been teaching English and ESL part-time since 2014, and until the pandemic, had steady employment each semester. To stay busy while stuck at home, I started helping high school students with their homework on Zoom. I had always enjoyed working with my own students one-on-one during office hours and in the campus reading and writing center, so I found myself really looking forward to going to “work.” Before I knew it, I was working with a 12th grader, a 9th grader, a 5th grader, a 4th grader, a kindergartener, and a 10th grader living in Shanghai—most of whom I was creating original lessons for.
My job as a full-time English tutor practically started itself, and it didn’t care if I was ready or not. Over the past year, I’ve learned so much about American education, running a successful business, and myself, and I never want it to end. It takes a lot of work to be an educator. It takes A LOT of work to be a good one. But what does it take to be the best? To me, it takes a willingness to be a lifelong learner, and to never reach a point where I feel comfortable to stop growing.
I hold myself to very high standards, which you will see when you work with me.

I recently completed my Fall semester with Professor Willits. She is fantastic! During our time together, I have advanced in research writing and expanded my vocabulary. I am also more confident in MLA formatting, source integrating, quoting, and summarizing. She gets straight to the point, all while having a positive attitude and enthusiastic tone. I recommend her to anyone that wants to further their writing skills!
I took Professor Willits' English 1 class during my first ever semester of college. Her class was my favorite of all because of how she took the time and effort to help us all out with her comprehensive, step-by-step lessons. Professor Willits was also very understanding, encouraging, and professional. Take her class, you won't regret it!
I had Professor Christine Willits during my Fall 2020 semester and she is a generous and a considerate person. She offers office hours for her students for any questions or help outside of class. She truly cares about her students and is very mindful to those who really need help and gives a friendly smile to the ones that just want to stop by and say hi. These traits don’t cover it all, I could also see that she has a great work ethic as any challenge that approached her would not stop her. She had a technical difficulty that was out of her control, but quickly took action and found a solution. Professor Christine Willits is a unique and skillful candidate that cannot be passed for anyone else.
I definitely recommend Christine! She was my Fall 2020 English professor and did an amazing job. It was my first college English course and I learned better ways of organizing and planning for writing an essay. The topics she made us read were both educational and honestly really interesting. I spoke with her multiple times one on one asking for help on writing and she did a wonderful job giving both critique and ideas. Very kind and easy to talk to!
Professor Willits was the English teacher of my first semester of college( Fall 2020). She is very nice and cares about her students. She explains everything clearly so that you won't get confused. Also, her lessons about writing essays are super helpful!! If you want to improve or try to do your best in your essays, taking Professor Willits' lesson is a good choice.
I had Professor Willits as an English professor for the fall 2020 semester. She's a supportive professor who doesn't put limits on students' creativity but makes sure they are staying within the limits of their theses. She poured a lot of work into supporting students' papers with peer-made supplemental materials, thoroughly taught how to write an effective essay, and offered her time to support many students like myself with the pre-writing processes before writing a final essay.
I was in her ENGL1A class for Fall of 2020. Her class was definitely one of my favorites because it is very straightforward and routine. There are no surprise deadlines or assignments that you would not be notified about. She always answered her emails within 24 hours and will always provide you with enough information. Her assignments always provide more than enough information and is clear about what her expectations are.
Professor Willits was my English professor last Fall. She is definitely one of my best English teachers. She is so dedicated to her lessons and students to provide the best knowledge. Her lessons are also very detailed and you can find the answer or filling the hole in your knowledge through her guidance. Moreover, Professor Willits is really friendly and nice to us, and that contributes to the study environment alots.
There are some educators who naturally teach better than others, and I can assure you that Professor Willits is one of them. Willits was my professor for the Fall of 2020. Coming into my first college English class I was a little nervous, but she helped me to be confident in my writing skills and she taught me how to write intelligent academic essays. She is patient, caring, and goes above and beyond to make sure that her students succeed in their assignments. Not everyone is going to be an English major or a writer but knowing how to be a good writer is apart of life, and she will equip you to do so. I would recommend her to anyone student who needs help with English assignments because she is detailed, kind, and passionate. Society needs more educators like Professor Willits.
Took her for English 1, was fast at responding if I had a question. Gave me great feedback if something was not working or if I was doing something wrong in a paper. Gave great example on what to do and what not to do when writing a paper. I recommend her because she is a fast responder and is willing to help the other person if they are having an issue with something.
Professor Willits is amazing! I took her English 1 course during the Fall 2020 semester. She goes into detail on all of her lessons and really gives the student the information to be a successful writer. She breaks down how to write successful essays and tips on how to research for information to put into the paper, which I found to be extremely helpful. I actually saved a lot of her lessons on essay writing and formatting to help with future classes. I feel her class gave me all the tools I need to be prepared for my next English course. Professor Willits is very helpful and gives the student 100%. She wants everyone she teaches to be successful and will help you whenever you need. I know I checked in with her constantly and she was always happy to help and clarify things and guide me if I was confused. One of the best professors I have had!
She is a great teacher who knows how to share her material well, I was able to pass her class with ease due to how easily she explained the subjects at hand and I even learned many new things to help plan out my writing. I can say that she definitely helped improve my writing skills.
Great teacher, I definitely learned a lot about essay writing from her, especially as a first year college student where everything is new to me. She explains everything in great detail, and is a great one on one teacher. I was only able to talk one on one once with her, but I do feel like she helped immensely with the one time I did talk to her.
