About the lesson

As a student who is ardent about learning, I have personally develop my own philosophy and technique when it comes to teaching. To me, learning isn't about pure memorization of the material, as it will be forgotten if they are not utilized. Learning is about critical thinking and the ability to form evidence-based reasoning, and I will be enlightened to accept students who have the same mindset. The education system has failed in teaching young generations about the importance of critical thinking, and that's why my first lesson is going to be just that. I believe students need to be given a lesson on how to learn first, which will establish a solid foundation to fortify the actual material, which will have to come later.

About Minh

I am an undergraduate senior majoring in biology at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW). Additionally, I'm also pursuing a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Geology. I worked as a walk-in chemistry tutor at PFW during my Sophomore year. I had a set of students who frequently come visit me for General Chemistry II tutoring, and all of them received high grades for the course. This is because I went over the homework, whose question structure is very similar to the test, and guide them through the problem-solving process so that they can solve it themselves, without me giving them a direct answer. Additionally, I have received training in entomology at Louisiana State University, and now I am working as a Teaching Assistant at the Entomology class at PFW. My class has 10 students, but through my guidance, 4 of them have already been capable of building a research-grade insect collection, and this is just the midterm collection. I am confident that all of my students will achieve this goal at the final insect collection.

As a believer in the value of education, if a student is extremely willing to learn or is passionate about the subject matter, I will even go out of my way to offer personal tutoring for the student for free. I think it will be more like an intellectual conversation that is related to the subject matter like sharing the news about the subject that we have found
