About the lesson

This course is designed for adult learners. The main focus is on speaking and listening although learners will be introduced to Khmer writing and reading as the course progresses.

Cambodian for Beginners by Richard K. Gilbert (2nd edition) will be used as the main textbook for this course. It introduces daily dialogues on various topics. It also offers grammar and exercises for learners to practice. Audio recordings will be used to help learners with their listening. Learners will also be helped with their pronuncation.

After between 20-25 hours of learning, learners will be able to:
- Recognise Khmer Alphabets and Vowels
- Do a Self-introduction in Khmer
- Talk about their family
- Count from 0-1,000,000
- Make Simple Sentences
- Make Negative Sentences
- Make Questions with What, Where, Who and How
- Make Yes/No Questions
- Read Basic Khmer Words

About Linda

I have been offering private Khmer sessions for individuals and groups since 2018. I have taught students from different nationalities including American, Australian, German and French. These students come from different work and life background. Some of them work in an office, which requires them to learn more official Khmer terms. Some of them work in the hospitality field which requires them to learn more casual and playful languages.

I have students who come and learn for a short term course and students who have been learning with me for a longer term. The ones who have ended the course have left with positive attitude towards the language and also have given me very nice feedbacks in the past.

I really enjoy the opportunity to teach Khmer to learners. I look forward to meeting you and teaching you some Khmer. :)

Peter has some great Knowledge with Khmer language and culture due to his work and family in Cambodia. We have been working on perfecting his pronunciation. In addition, we are looking into Khmer alphabets in order for him to learn to read and write Khmer. It has been an enjoyable experience working with him.
