About the lesson
My philosophy is all about listening. We are all gifted with such unique brains and it's my job to figure out how each student learns best.
I have worked with students for a total of about 6 years. I've also had the honor of helping high school students finesse their application essays through the years so they can attend the school of their dreams.
Everybody has a story. Even the smallest elements hold a history that's worth telling in order to give a student's application a breath of life.
A former actor, I refuse to be boring! I let my goofy sense of humor pave the way for genuine connection so I can do my best work (and, in turn, so can my students).
In addition to tutoring, I am a freelance writer and poet. My memoir essays and poems have been published in various literary journals around the US and overseas.
I'm confident my creativity and literary prowess can help give students the tools and confidence they need to develop their own unique voice on and off the page.

About Brandyce
I am a published poet and writer who has helped elementary, middle, and high school students develop into independent thinkers, skilled writers, A-students, and voracious readers. I have worked in schools and community enrichment centers as well as in public libraries or students' homes for small group or one-on-one sessions. My approach is accepting and rigorous with necessary splashes of humor to share the spunk and get students stoked to meet the challenges at hand. I want to foster an appreciation of words in my students and light that I-love-this-I-can-do-this spark that they can ride throughout their academic careers and future aspirations.

As her former teacher, I am honored to recommend Brandy Ingram as a superprof. I haven't seen her teach, but I have seen her act, and I have seen her eagerness as a student. I am sure she is a teacher that anyone would be inspired by. She has charisma and a fabulous sense of humor, and a love of discovery and sharing discoveries. Her students are lucky.
I can talk about her education or about her experience, but her resume can tell you that. Her Master’s degree is only a formal title. As a teacher, when Brandyce and I were in Graduate school I got to see her in a more personal and informal environment. Her resume alone should be enough to trust her, but as her former classmate, we were tasked to mentor and tutor each other while we worked on earning a Master’s degree in writing. During this time, Brandyce helped me achieve my goals in earning a Master’s degree. Without ever telling me how to write or do things, Brandyce was more of a mentor and always made suggestions on how I should move forward; she was the best constructive critic to me. Fast forward almost two years later, I was able to write a book thanks to the many times she mentored me and the many suggestions she made. Without her mentoring, I would not have written the book.
